Manage your server from Discord
Link your Discord account and type /kw commands in any server or DM to manage your game server. Connect a channel, and starts, restarts, updates and expiry are posted there for everyone you play with.
Set up in three steps
1. Link your Discord account
Sign in, open Account settings → Sign-in methods, and link your Discord account.
2. Turn on “Manage servers from Discord”
The switch is further down the same page. Linking for sign-in alone doesn't enable commands, and turning it off stops them right away.
3. Add to my Discord
Click “Add to my Discord” and approve. The commands are installed to your own account; they don't join any server and need no server permissions.
Commands
Command names are in English (kw is short for KeepWorlds). Replies follow your account language, or your Discord language if you haven't set one. You can leave out server if you have one; with more, you'll get a list to pick from as you type, and games that don't support a command are left out of it. Replies are only visible to you.
/kw status [server] [public]- Status, players online, whether an update is due, and expiry. Add public to post it to the channel (no address or password)
/kw info [server]- Address, password and join code, visible only to you
/kw players [server]- Who's online, with levels
/kw start · /kw stop · /kw restart [server] [now]- Start, stop and restart. Stop and restart ask you to confirm and give players in the game a countdown; add now to skip it
/kw say <message> [server]- Send a message to everyone in the game, up to 200 characters
/kw rescue <player> [server]- Kick a stuck player so they can rejoin
/kw update [server] [now]- Install the latest game version; the server stops and is backed up first
/kw backup [server]- Back up the world now
/kw delegate add · remove · list <user>- Let friends start and restart the server (add / remove / list)
/kw help- List of commands
Channel notifications
Open your server in the console and go to the Discord tab to connect a channel. Channel messages never include the address or password.
Connect with Discord (recommended)
Pick a channel and approve. Notifications come with Restart and Update buttons; whoever clicks has to pass the same permission check and confirm.
Paste a channel webhook
Create a webhook under the channel's Settings → Integrations → Webhooks and paste its URL. This way, notifications have links but no buttons. If the webhook is deleted, notifications pause and the page asks you to connect again.
You choose what gets posted: server ready, start / stop / restart, daily restart, new version, update result, expiring soon, expired, not responding and back, and players joining and leaving. Everything except the daily restart is on by default. Player notices include in-game names unless you turn off Show player names. Notifications follow your account language by default, and you can pick another language per channel.
Let friends start the server
In Discord, type /kw delegate add and pick a friend. They can use /kw start, /kw restart, /kw status and /kw players. They don't need an account here, can't see the address or password, and can't stop the server, post announcements or update it. Take it back with /kw delegate remove or on the server page.
FAQ
Can other people see my command replies?
No. Replies are only visible to you. Only /kw status with public is posted to the channel, and it never includes the address or password. The admin password never appears anywhere in Discord.
Does every game support every command?
status, start, stop, restart, update and backup work for every game. players, say and rescue need the game to have a remote admin interface: Palworld has one, Valheim doesn't. Valheim reports the player count only when it's public and crossplay is off.
Why does my update reply still say it's working?
Discord only lets us edit a reply within 15 minutes. If an update takes longer, the result shows up in your connected channel and in the console.
What is sent to Discord?
Your server's name, status and player count, the announcements you send, and players' in-game names when they join or leave (unless you turn off Show player names). Players' game account IDs are never sent. See the privacy policy for details.
How do I turn it off?
Turn off “Manage servers from Discord” or unlink Discord; commands stop working immediately. You can also remove the app under Authorized Apps in Discord.
